A bit of synchronicity for me. About a month ago, I discovered H.P. Lovecraft, read some of his stuff, attended a conference in R.I., and then this:
- The Call of Cthulhu
- At the Mountains of Madness
- Ancient Kingdom Discovered in Nepal With Thousands of Caves (astonishing photographs).
Lovecraft’s work is a compelling blend of existential horror and science fiction, typically told through a first-person narrative, where an overly inquisitive, Faustian, protagonist opens doors he should’t, unleashing alien powers dormant for millions of years, and dooming mankind in the process.
