Oliver Sacks

In Vanity Fair, Lawrence Weschler has a very well written piece on his lifelong friendship with Oliver Sacks (aka, the author of Awakenings, whom Robin Williams played in the film adaptation).

Sacks is now suffering from terminal cancer and has mere months of life left.

His life has been most interesting, a former body builder overcoming suicidal inclinations, a man who today reads Husserl, and who hasn’t lost his almost child-like wonder at the mysteries of existence and life itself.
