So, as pro-DREAMers use the word “valedictorian”almost as frequently as “the”, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) makes what is, in all likelihood, an understated factual statement, and the MSM gins up an ‘uproar’:
Washington (CNN) – Supporters of the Senate immigration bill’s path to citizenship are blasting comments Iowa Rep. Steve King made last week where he said that for every young undocumented immigrant who is a school valedictorian, 100 more are “hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert.”…
The controversial comments focused specifically on so-called DREAMers, advocates for a path to citizenship for young undocumented immigrants, especially those with strong school records, who were brought to the United States by their parents. King acknowledged that there are undocumented immigrants for whom he has sympathy, with strong connections to the community and exemplary school performance.
“But they aren’t all valedictorians, they weren’t all brought by their parents,” King said.
“For everyone who’s a valedictorian there’s another 100 out there that, they weigh 130 pounds and they’ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they’re hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert. Those people would be legalized with the same act.”
But at least Republican leaders are coming to King’s defense, right?
Speaker John Boehner, a fellow Republican, chastised King, saying, “What he said is wrong. There can be honest disagreements about policy without using hateful language. Everyone needs to remember that.”
Well, what about Eric Cantor? He’s defending King, right?
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), the second-ranking House Republican, said of King’s remarks: ”I strongly disagree with his characterization of the children of immigrants and find the comments inexcusable.”
On CNN just now, I just watched Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) defend himself admirably from the playbook moves of Wolf Blitzkrieg. As expected, Blitzkrieg quoted to King the Boehner and Cantor quotes above.
Because (hello GOP leadership!) quotes like the above simply reinforce the MSM/liberal angle.
This is why the GOP is doomed.
And why a Third Party — a Pat Buchanan-like insurgency — will someday emerge.
