RIP: Prince

I always thought his first couple of albums were his best. Songs like “When You Were Mine” and “I Wanna Be Your Lover”. Simple rock based with an early ’80s Minneapolis twist. At the age of 18, he played every instrument on his debut Warner Brother record For You (1978). He would go on to play many (and sometimes all) of the instruments on his subsequent albums. A super talented guy.

This video is from the 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. On the latter half of the song, Prince shows what a monster guitar player (and consummate showman) he was, including ‘falling back’ off the stage (into the arms of a handler), throwing his guitar into the air, and strutting off the stage before the song is over.
