If there is one thing that makes me gag, it’s when a hack pol is described (usually upon their death) as having “dedicated their life to public service”, as if being a hack pol is the very definition of ‘altruism’.
Shrillary Clinton said as much about herself at Thursday night’s Town Hall event, which caused me to spit dry rose wine out of my mouth.
With this in mind, I’m trying to put this astonishing number into perspective, relative to various self-made entrepeneurs in the private sector:
(CNN) – Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, combined to earn more than $153 million in paid speeches from 2001 until Hillary Clinton launched her presidential campaign last spring, a CNN analysis shows.
Think about that.
$153 million.
In comparison:
- Bernie Sanders, HC’s sole Democratic rival, has a net worth of $700,000.
- Bob Dylan has an estimated net worth of $80 million.
- Bruce Springsteen has an estimated net worth of $200 million.
The sacrifices and ‘selfless dedication to public servivce’ undergone by Hillary, Bubba, and now Chelsea, is so selfless… that I just get teary-eyed.
