The Curious Oddity

Currently, the most-read story on The Guardian’s online site (a UK newspaper) is “The Brits have it right: forget Happy Holidays, just wish people Merry Christmas”.

The Brits find our hand-wringing reluctance to say ‘Merry Christmas’ a curious oddity. “Americans are increasingly conflicted about whether to wish people a Merry Christmas,” reads the story’s byline.
