Culture Wars – Pt. 5,331,287

More detritus we can look forward to at 8 pm on ABC. Soon, gender-reassigned characters will be as ubiquitous in sitcom land as the funny, gay neighbors are today.

There has been a major change in the relationship dynamic of veteran comedy writing duo Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia, and it is the subject of a comedy project they have sold to ABC. Titled Changes, the single-camera project is written/exec produced by Sternin and Jennifer Ventimilia, which is Ventimilia’s new name after she underwent gender reassignment. Based on the duo’s real-life friendship, Changes revolves around two guys whose 30-year friendship was rocked when one of them became a woman…

Changes is one of two comedies Sternin and Ventimilia have sold to ABC through their overall deal at ABC Studios. The other is a multi-camera sitcom based on the adolescent memories of journalist/activist Dan Savage. It explores a contemporary family that comes together by falling apart.
