Gallup: Reading the Tea Leaves

Gallup’s recent survey of public confidence across the spectrum of social institutions is quite interesting, and possibly foreboding.

First up: a precipitous decline in public confidence with Congress, something that has real implications for the future of the republic:

Next up: Significant decline in public confidence toward the media, those First Amendment ‘purveyors of truth’ who supposedly hold government and individuals accountable:

The military, small business, and police are at the top… while Congress, TV news, big business and organized labor are at the bottom.

It sounds like a recipe for fascism… or some other kind of revolution.
