I’m a big fan of Nash-era Hollies, with their beat instrumentation and strong vocal harmonies (marked by Nash’s distinctive vocal timbre.) They made regular appearances at Liverpool’s Cavern Club in the early ’60s, a most magical time. (Sigh… to have been a teenager there and then.) Check out “I Take What I Want” to see what I mean. (The background vox “aaahs” at the 0:39 marker are sublime.)
