MSM Thrilled About Bannon’s Departure

Over at Politico is a piece on “Why Bannon Lost and the Globalists Won”:

His trial balloons were laughed off by conservatives, and his association with the “alt-right” made him a toxic negotiating partner for the left. Bannon’s nemesis, economic adviser Gary Cohn, meanwhile, built up a relatively competent team that ran circles around the poorly staffed former Breitbart chairman…

Might Trump pursue Bannon’s economic agenda after Bannon is gone? Anything is possible. Simply being surrounded by “globalist” advisers cannot predict the behavior of a president who often revels in doing the opposite of what he is told. But Bannon’s failure almost surely prevents the realization of a broad political realignment in which Trump leads an economically populist rainbow coalition.

Meanwhile, the NYT is celebrating Bannon’s departure (“Will Bannon’s White House Agenda Survive Without Him?”):

[Bannon] has been an unyielding advocate for a visceral brand of nationalism, and though he lost as often as he won in policy debates, his departure could tip the balance on some fiercely contested issues toward a more mainstream approach, even if the core tenets of his philosophy survive…

His departure helps those in the administration who favor a more interventionist military approach, whether on Syria, where Mr. Bannon opposed Mr. Trump’s missile strike on President Bashar al-Assad, or on Afghanistan…

Mr. Bannon’s departure was a victory for Mr. Cohn and Steven Mnuchin, secretary of the Treasury…

I’ll bet.

The NYT does, however, also have something of a caveat (or a retcon?) in “Steven Mnuchin Defends Trump’s Reaction to Charlottesville Violence”:

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, under fire from Yale classmates and Jewish critics of President Trump, strongly defended the president’s equivocating response to the racially charged violence in Charlottesville, Va., in a written statement this weekend.

“I strongly condemn the actions of those filled with hate and with the intent to harm others,” Mr. Mnuchin said in a statement on Saturday. “They have no defense from me, nor do they have any defense from the president or this administration.”

He continued, “While I find it hard to believe I should have to defend myself on this, or the president, I feel compelled to let you know that the president in no way, shape or form believes that neo-Nazi and other hate groups who endorse violence are equivalent to groups that demonstrate in peaceful and lawful ways.”

His words marked perhaps the most vociferous defense of the president from anyone in the administration.

Mr. Mnuchin, one of the most prominent Jews in the administration, issued the statement on Twitter in response to a letter signed by more than 300 of his 1985 classmates from Yale, urging him to step down immediately…

Mr. Mnuchin stood uncomfortably next to Mr. Trump in the lobby of Trump Tower last week as the president said there were “very fine people on both sides” of the Charlottesville protests. The marchers in the initial rally on Friday night carried tiki torches and chanted, “Jews will not replace us.”…

Mr. Mnuchin and Gary D. Cohn, the president’s top economic adviser, who is also Jewish and who was also at the news conference in Trump Tower, have come under public pressure to resign in the past few days.

I’m not sure what to make of all that, but it is fascinating to see the NYT’s obsession with Jewishness find political expression everywhere and all the time.

“Billy! What Are You Doing!?”

Billy, one of the best characters from one of the greatest Sci-Fi films ever made, The Predator, has passed away:

Actor Sonny Landham, who appeared in “Predator” and “48 Hrs,” died from congestive heart failure Thursday in Lexington, Ky. He was 76.

The actor, who was part Seminole and part Cherokee, was best known for portraying Native American tracker Billy Sole in Arnold Schwarzenegger-starrer “Predator” in 1987…

In 2003, Landham embarked on a brief campaign for the governor of Kentucky, but was unable to secure the Republican Party’s nomination. Landham also ran for the Kentucky State Senate in 2004, and was nominated by Kentucky’s Libertarian party for candidacy in 2008 for one of Kentucky’s seats in the U.S. Senate, although his comments on a political radio show caused the party to rescind his nomination a few days later.

In terms of what his controversial comments were:

The same day Landham was accused of calling for genocide against Arabs (whom Landham referred to as “camel dung shovelers,” “camel jockeys,” and “rag-heads”) for his comments on the political radio show The Weekly Filibuster. Three days later, on June 28, the Kentucky Libertarians voted unanimously to withdraw Landham’s nomination, citing his comments were not in keeping with the party’s platform and values.

CNN: “Antifa Activists Seek Peace Through Violence”

Earlier this week, the NYT had a perfectly Orwellian headline “Trump Blames Both Sides in Virginia… Abandons Measured Tone”, and today CNN has shown they’re up to the challenge of creating an even more Orwellian headline (hat tip: MB).

From the CNN piece:

Antifa activists, who operate without any centralized leadership, told CNN that their goal is peace and inclusivity. They often denounce capitalism and government. Since Trump entered the world stage, they’ve condemned his push to tighten immigration rules and what some view as his tendency toward racism.

While Antifa members don’t fit a single category, they say many are millennials and many live on society’s fringes: undocumented immigrants, transgender people, low-wage workers, those who don’t conform to the traditional 9-to-5.

They’re not 9-to-5-ers? Imagine my surprise.

And their methods are often violent. Antifa leaders admit they’re willing to physically attack anyone who employs violence against them or who condones racism — as long as force is used in the name of eradicating hatred.

“Violence against windows — there’s no such thing as violence against windows,” a masked Antifa member in Union Square told CNN. “Windows don’t have — they’re not persons. And even when they are persons, the people we fight back against, they are evil. They are the living embodiment, they are the second coming of Hitler.”…

Everyone on the right is Hitler 2.0.

Antifa members also sometimes launch attacks against people who aren’t physically attacking them. The movement, Crow said, sees alt-right hate speech as violent, and for that, its activists have opted to meet violence with violence.

Because Alt right speech is ‘violence’, real actual violence from the Left is not only justified but is morally presribed.

Rod Dreher’s Crack-Up

Rod Dreher’s histrionic response to Buchanan’s latest column is quite stunning in his misinterpretation of Buchanan’s rhetorical intentions. It is refreshing to see the number of comments to Dreher’s piece saying as much.

What this episode conveys to me is the emotional breakdown that ensues when a starry-eyed Christian humanist begins to realize the flaws of an idealized ‘civic nationalism’, how it conflicts with newly formulated, non-egalitarian beliefs he is beginning to simultaneously (and subconsciously) hold.

Goy, Bye!

Upon news of Steve Bannon’s WH departure, the original HuffPo headline emblazoned across their website was this:

What this says about about one of the most influential leftist platforms on the interweb is rather astonishing. The Goy lost and the Jews won.

With Bannon out, some on the far left and far right believe, Trump’s inner circle is now top heavy with Goldman Sachs-types (e.g., Cohn, Mnuchin, and Javanka.)  That is certainly not lost on the HuffPo Editorial Board who approved this headline. HuffPo’s Leadership is:

  • Chief Executive Officer: Jared Grusd
  • Editor-in-Chief: Lydia Polgreen
  • Head of Product: Julia Beizer
  • Head of Video: Shelley Venus
  • Chief of Staff: Christina Moniodis
  • Head of Business Development: Mark Silverstein
  • Head of Operations: Vincent Wu

The publication has since quietly renamed the story to “White Flight”.

Occidental Dissent processes this event in distilled poetic form.

“Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs” (1943)

This is one of the ‘banned cartoons’ (in our modern P.C. age) made by Merrie Melodies in the ‘40s. Stuff like this was uncontroversial and mainstream in 1943. From Wikipedia:

Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs (working title: So White and de Sebben Dwarfs) is a Merrie Melodies animated cartoon directed by Bob Clampett, produced by Leon Schlesinger Productions, and released to theatres on January 16, 1943 by Warner Bros. and The Vitaphone Corporation.[1]

The film is an all-black parody of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale Snow White, known to its audience from the popular 1937 Walt Disney animated feature Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The stylistic portrayal of the characters is an example of “darky” iconography, which was widely accepted in American society at the time. As such, it is one of the most controversial cartoons in the classic Warner Brothers library, being one of the Censored Eleven. The cartoon has been rarely seen on television, and has never been officially released on home video.

The Asymmetrical Boston “Free Speech Rally”

The much ballyhooed “Free Speech Rally” in Boston was slightly asymmetrical:

But only a few dozen conservatives turned out for the rally on historic Boston Common — in stark contrast to the estimated 15,000 counterprotesters — and the conservatives abruptly left early…

It was 15,000 lefties vs. 24 conservatives. And these conservatives were not dastardly white identitarians, as the Rally organizers had emphasized their intent:

The Boston Free Speech Coalition, which organized the event, said it has nothing to do with white nationalism or racism and its group is not affiliated with the Charlottesville rally organizers in any way.

“We are strictly about free speech,” the group said on its Facebook page. “… we will not be offering our platform to racism or bigotry. We denounce the politics of supremacy and violence.”

No matter. With only a 625-to-1 advantage (and over 500 police at the event), the Forces of Good still felt triggered and threatened enough to resist (aka initiate violence) in the name fighing Neo-Hitlers:

Rallygoers had been met by thousands of leftist protesters who marched peaceably through downtown Boston on Saturday, chanting anti-Nazi slogans and waving signs condemning white nationalism ahead of the rally.

TV cameras showed a group of boisterous counterprotesters chasing a man with a Trump campaign banner and cap, shouting and swearing at him. Other counterprotesters intervened and helped the man safely over a fence to where the conservative rally was to be staged.

Black-clad counterprotesters also grabbed an American flag out of an elderly woman’s hands, and she stumbled and fell to the ground.

Little old ladies carrying American flags emboldens not only racial intolerance, and the forces of patriarchy and oppression, but it is coded symbolism for neo-Nazism.

And, as we should all know by now, a rally for free speech is indistinguishable from a rally for Nazism.

UPDATE: FNC is now reporting the ratio (per the BPD) was more like 40,000 vs. 100.

Murdoch Progeny

From The Hill:

James Murdoch, the CEO of 21st Century Fox and son of conservative media magnate Rupert Murdoch, ripped President Trump’s response to violence in Charlottesville, Va., last weekend, also pledging a $1 million donation to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

This is a worrisome sign, given the Old Man won’t be around forever.

To see what a paranoid con artist Abe Foxman (head of the ADL) is, watch the outstanding documentary Defamation (2009), which can be viewed in its entirety here.

MSNBC

From Breitbart:

For the first time ever, MSNBC’s Wednesday programming topped all cable networks in total viewers. CNN was fourth behind Nickelodeon.

FNC needs to dump the awful Specialists show (easy to do now, given Bolling’s suspension and Eboni revealing her true colors, no pun intended), move The Five back to 5pm (where it never should have left), and give the 9pm slot to someone like Laura Ingraham.
